Stock market today: Indian stock markets closed in green on Wednesday after facing a strong downfall for the last two days. The Sensex climbed 304 points while the Nifty reached 24619. The US inflation data remains the same, and India’s CPI slowed to 1.55% in July. Apollo Hospitals, Hindalco Limited, and Dr. Reddy’s Lab are top gainers, while IndusInd Bank, Adani Port, and ITC were the top losers.
Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty traded in green on Wednesday’s trading session. After the large downfall over 2 weeks, the green rally came into the markets. The Sensex climbed 304 points, or 0.38%, to close at 80539, while the Nifty gained 131 points, or 0.54%, to settle at 24619. The Nifty regained its position above 24500. The markets were down on the last day because of US tariff uncertainties, India’s July retail inflation data, and the US inflation data. But the markets were boosted from their opening and continued a bullish trend in today’s market.
India’s CPI retail inflation reached its low at 1.55% in July. This is the lowest CPI since June 2017. The steady US inflation data derived a rally in the global markets. US inflation data remained unchanged at 2.70%, which raises hopes for the Fed’s rate cut.
Apollo Hospital shares jumped 8.2% after its Q1 earnings beat estimates. The firm reported 42% growth in consolidated net profit to ₹ 433 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2025. Hindalco Limited shares climbed 5.09% after its healthy Q1 earnings. The firm reported a 30% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹ 4,004 crore and revenue up by 13%.
Suzlon Energy shares declined 4.42% as the Q1 earnings failed to impress market investors and announced the resignation of its chief financial officer. The firm reported a 7.3% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹ 324.32 crore for Q1 FY26. Adani Port slipped 0.72% along with ITC at 0.52%.

Among all sectoral indices, 4 indices closed in red. Nifty Auto jumped 1.12%, Nifty Media 0.88%, and the Nifty Healthcare Index 2.3%.
