Stock market today: Indian stock markets closed higher on Wednesday’s trading session. The benchmark Sensex gained 213 points, while Nifty settled above 25000. The IT sector surged in the rally in the benchmarks by closing 2.69% up. Infosys, TCS, and Nestlé India were the top gainers, while BEL, Shriram Finance, and Bajaj Finance were the top losers in the Nifty 50. Ola Electric shares surged over 30% in two trading sessions.
Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed in green on their third consecutive day of the week. Both Sensex and Nifty closed higher on Wednesday’s market session. The Sensex closed 213 points, or 0.26%, higher to settle at 81857, while the Nifty climbed 69 points, or 0.28%, to close at 25050. Nifty successfully claimed a position above its previous strong base at 25000.
81 stocks hit their 52-week high on NSE. Some major names include Apollo Hospitals, Ashok Leyland, Delhivery, Eternal, Fortis Healthcare, JK Cement, JSW Steel, JSW Cement, Maruti, TVS Motors, and UltraTech Cement. In contrast, 26 stocks touched their 52-week low on the NSE, including Accretion Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Spacenet Enterprises, and Regaal Resources.
Ola Electric shares continued their rally over two consecutive days. The shares gained 30.5% in two trading sessions. Investors believe that the company will give a positive outlook and will gain large block deals. Ola announced the integration of the indigenous 4680 Bharat Cell into its vehicle. Shares of the company surged over 18.69% on Wednesday.
Infosys jumped 3.83%, along with TCS at 2.61% and Tech Mahindra at 1.96%. The IT sector surged rally in the index by contributing to the Nifty 50. The expectations of a US Federal Reserve rate cut from the next policy meeting boosted the segment.

In the sectoral indices, Nifty FMCG gained 1.39%, Nifty IT 2.69%, and Nifty Reality 1.06%. While Nifty Media slid 1.98%, PSU Bank 0.27%, and Nifty Pharma 0.44%.
