Stock market today: Indian stock markets closed in green on Tuesday’s market session. The Sensex gained 370 points, while Nifty made its position near 25000. The GST reform of 2025 affected the auto sector by rising 1.36% on Tuesday and 4.8% on the last day. Tata Motors, Adani Ports, and Hero Motor Corp were the top gainers, while Dr. Reddy’s Lab, Cipla, and Hindalco were the top losers in today’s market.
Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty traded in green on Tuesday’s trading session. The rally continued its trend for two continuous days. The benchmark Sensex climbed 370 points, or 0.46%, to settle at 81644, while the Nifty gained 103 points, or 0.42%, to settle at 24980. During today’s trading session, Nifty touched its position at 25000 and closed just below that. It is expected to continue the trend of the Nifty to regain its position above 25000.
The announcement of GST reform 2025 by PM Modi on Independence Day, 15 August 2025, surged rallies over the Indian stock markets, especially over the auto sector. Automobile manufacturers are likely to get benefits from GST reform in 2025; that’s why most of the auto sector stocks performed well on the last day and today also.
Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, and Hero MotoCorp were the biggest contributors in Nifty 50. Tata Motors jumped 3.62%, along with Adani Ports (3.22%) and Reliance Industries (2.84%). The auto sector stocks gained significantly on Tuesday and the last day also. TVS Motors rose 1.02%, Ashok Leyland 1.21%, Maruti 1.19%, and Hyundai Motor 6.52%.
China has lifted restrictions over exports of rare earth magnets to India, which is a key element for automakers. This is another key reason behind the auto sector rally.

Among all sectoral indices, 2 indices closed in red on Tuesday. The Nifty Auto jumped 1.31%, Nifty 0.35%, Nifty FMCG 1.05%, Nifty Oil and Gas 1.66%, and Nifty Media 1.34%.
